# Memecoin Pairing: Link Your Token to a Crypto Narrative

> Pair your PAIR token with an existing memecoin like DOGE or BONK to embed a crypto-native narrative signal and enable buyback mechanics on Solana.

A memecoin pairing lets you associate your PAIR token with an existing memecoin — such as DOGE, SHIB, or BONK — embedding a crypto-native narrative signal directly into your token's on-chain configuration. The pairing identifies a reference asset for narrative alignment and can connect to buyback mechanics within the PAIR protocol.

## What a Memecoin Pairing Does

Adding a memecoin to your PAIR achieves two things:

1. **Narrative signal.** The memecoin becomes part of your PAIR formula, making the thematic connection explicit and discoverable. For example, `@elonmusk × DOGE` immediately communicates a token built around Elon Musk's long-running association with Dogecoin.

2. **Buyback reference asset.** When trading fees flow into the buyback allocation bucket, the memecoin pairing identifies the target asset for buyback activity. This creates a mechanical link between your PAIR token's trading volume and the paired memecoin.

## Example: @elonmusk × DOGE

The PAIR formula `@elonmusk × DOGE` embeds the Elon/Doge narrative — one of crypto's most recognized cultural pairings — into a single on-chain token primitive. Every trade on this token generates fees that, according to your configured allocation, can flow back to `@elonmusk` as a creator payout, be used to buy DOGE, or be distributed to token holders.

Combining all three layers produces the full formula: `@elonmusk × TSLA × DOGE`.

## How to Add a Memecoin During PAIR Creation

During the PAIR launch flow, you will find an optional field for a memecoin pairing. You can specify a memecoin in one of two ways:

    The PAIR app may surface a curated list of well-known memecoins for quick selection. Choose the memecoin that fits your narrative. The list and its contents are subject to change as the protocol develops.

    If the memecoin you want to pair is not on the curated list, enter its contract address directly. Verify the address against a trusted source before entering it — contract addresses cannot be changed after launch.

  At least one pairing — either a memecoin or a stock ticker — is required in addition to your X creator handle. The memecoin pairing alone is sufficient to meet this requirement.

## Cross-Chain Pairings

  PAIR is built on Solana. Whether memecoins on other chains (e.g., ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum, such as the ERC-20 version of SHIB) can be used as pairing targets is not confirmed at this time. If cross-chain memecoin pairings are supported, they will be clearly indicated in the PAIR app. When in doubt, use a Solana-native memecoin or a Solana-bridged token whose contract address you can verify on-chain.

## Limitations

  The PAIR protocol does not impose a fixed whitelist of memecoins — you can enter any contract address. However, buyback mechanics and data integrations may only be fully functional for memecoins that the protocol has explicitly integrated. The PAIR app will indicate any limitations at the time of pairing.

  The memecoin contract address you pair at launch is embedded in the on-chain token configuration and cannot be changed after the launch transaction is confirmed. Double-check the contract address before signing.

  Always verify a memecoin's contract address against a trusted, authoritative source before entering it. Entering an incorrect or fraudulent contract address will associate your PAIR with the wrong asset, and this cannot be corrected after launch.
