When you launch a PAIR token, you decide exactly how the fees it generates will be distributed. PAIR gives you three allocation categories and a set of sliders to configure the split between them. The percentages you set are encoded on-chain at launch and govern every fee distribution that follows. Understanding each category helps you design a token economy that reflects your priorities — rewarding creators, sustaining price, or growing your holder community.

The Three Allocation Categories

1. X Creator Payout

The creator payout is the percentage of fees routed directly to the wallet(s) associated with the paired X creator handle(s).
  • If your PAIR includes a single creator (e.g., @elonmusk), 100% of this slice goes to that creator’s wallet
  • If your PAIR includes multiple creators (e.g., @elonmusk + @SpaceX), the creator payout slice is split across all configured creator wallets
  • Creator wallets are verified and assigned during the configuration step before launch
Setting a creator payout creates a direct, transparent, on-chain revenue stream for the X creator(s) tied to the token — without any intermediary.

2. Buyback

The buyback percentage is the share of fees used to purchase the PAIR token from the open market.
  • Buyback activity reduces circulating supply and returns value to the token’s market
  • It reinforces the token’s price by creating consistent buy-side pressure from fee flows
  • The buyback operates automatically based on the allocation encoded at launch
Setting a higher buyback percentage is a signal to the market that you are designing the token for long-term price support.

3. Holder Rewards

The holder rewards percentage is the share of fees distributed directly to token holders.
  • Holders receive rewards proportional to their share of the token supply
  • This incentivizes holding over selling, growing your committed holder base
  • Rewards flow to all qualifying holders without requiring manual claims
Buyback execution and holder reward distribution are in active development. The allocation percentages you configure at launch are encoded on-chain now and will govern distributions once these routing features go live. Check the PAIR changelog for updates.

The 100% Constraint

The three allocation categories must always sum to exactly 100%. PAIR enforces this constraint in the configuration UI — the sliders are coupled so that adjusting one category automatically signals the remaining balance available for the others.
If your three allocation percentages do not total exactly 100%, the launch cannot proceed. The PAIR interface will prevent submission until the allocations balance. Double-check your split before confirming the launch transaction.

Example Allocations

The table below shows several valid allocation configurations and the intent behind each.
There is no single “right” allocation. Consider your launch goals: Are you trying to attract a creator to your launch? Prioritize creator payout. Building a loyal holder community? Weight holder rewards. Focused on price stability? Increase the buyback slice.

Setting Allocations at Launch

You configure fee allocations during the Configuration stage of the token lifecycle, before any on-chain transaction is submitted.

Immutability of Allocations

Fee allocation percentages are encoded on-chain at the moment the token is launched. They are immutable — there is no on-chain mechanism to modify the split after the launch transaction is confirmed.
If you need to change the fee allocation for a token, you must launch a new PAIR token with the updated configuration. The original token’s allocation cannot be altered post-launch.
This immutability is a feature, not a limitation. It guarantees that creators, holders, and the market can always verify — on-chain — that the distribution rules are exactly as originally configured, with no possibility of after-the-fact adjustment by any party.

Multiple Creators and the Payout Slice

When your PAIR primitive includes more than one X creator handle, the Creator Payout percentage is split across all configured creator wallets. For example, if you set a 60% creator payout and pair @elonmusk + @SpaceX, each creator wallet receives a share of that 60% slice.
The exact mechanics of multi-creator payout splitting — including whether splits are equal or weighted — are part of the fee routing system currently in development. The per-creator wallet assignments you configure at launch will govern the distribution once routing goes live.
